Valley-floor roads
The main routes run along the valley bottoms, tracing the curves of the streams and giving the map a long, meandering spine instead of a regular street grid.

Jifeng Map Poster & Print
Jifeng lies in the southern part of Gansu province, in the mountainous country around Longnan that forms a transition between the Loess Plateau to the north and the ranges of Sichuan and Shaanxi to the south. The land here is steep and folded, and settlements generally occupy the narrow strips of level ground along valley floors.
From above, this kind of terrain produces a distinctive map. Roads follow the streams rather than cutting across the hills, so the main routes appear as long, winding lines, while smaller tracks branch off to climb toward hillside fields. Buildings gather where valleys widen or where two routes meet.
A Jifeng map poster presents that mountain logic in its simplest form. There is no grid to speak of, only the flowing lines of roads and watercourses and the small, dense cluster of the settlement itself. For such a little-known place, the drawing tells an honest story about how people have adapted to difficult ground.

Hillside tracks
Smaller roads and paths branch away from the valley, climbing in tight bends toward farmland on the slopes, creating fine, looping details across the composition.
Clustered centre
Where the valley opens slightly, buildings and lanes gather into a compact core, the densest point on an otherwise open, mountainous map.

For people from Jifeng or families with roots in southern Gansu, a map is a way to keep a very specific landscape close, one rarely seen in guidebooks. The winding lines are recognisable to anyone who has travelled those valley roads.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, add a family name or a date, and keep or edit the coordinates. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
