Valley settlements
Homes and streets gather along the valley floors, so the built-up area appears as a string of clusters linked by roads through the hills.

Kami Map Poster & Print
Kami lies inland in Fukuoka Prefecture, away from the coast and the big urban areas of northern Kyushu. The landscape is hilly and wooded, and the town's streets gather along the valley floors where rivers and roads run side by side. From above the settlement looks like a series of connected clusters, not one continuous city.
This part of the prefecture belongs to the Chikuhō area, long associated with coal mining in Japan's industrial past. Today the view on a map is mostly residential streets, farmland in the lower valleys and forest climbing the slopes, with main roads linking the separate districts.
A Kami map poster shows a gentler side of Japanese urban form: modest streets tracing the ground, small neighbourhoods separated by green hills, and rivers giving the whole thing its direction. It suits anyone who knows the quieter inland towns of Kyushu, not only the famous cities.

River lines
Rivers run through the lowlands alongside the main streets and give the map a flowing structure in the gaps between neighbourhoods.
Wooded slopes
The hills between the valleys are largely forested and stay nearly empty on the map, framing the streets with generous open space.
