Kari Map Poster & Print
Kari is a town in Bauchi State in northeastern Nigeria, set in the open savanna that covers much of the country's north. The land around it is flat to gently rolling, with farmland, scattered trees and seasonal watercourses. The town itself is a compact cluster of streets and residential compounds, with a main road running through it.
Roads connect Kari with Bauchi and other towns of the northeast, and roadside trade is a visible part of the town's layout. Around the centre, buildings are arranged in walled compounds of varying size. Seen from above, they create a distinctive, cellular texture, quite unlike the street blocks of planned cities.
A Kari map poster presents the town as a small, dense shape against the wide savanna. The contrast between the close pattern of compounds and the open land around them gives the composition its strength. The roads leaving the town draw long, confident lines to the edges of the frame.
