This Karuri lies in Murang'a County in central Kenya, on the eastern side of the Aberdare highlands. The land here falls away in a series of long ridges separated by steep river valleys, many of them draining toward the Tana, Kenya's longest river. Murang'a is a farming county, known for tea on the higher ground and coffee, bananas and other crops further down the slopes.
