Kasaoka Map Poster & Print
Kasaoka is on the Seto Inland Sea coast in the southwest of Okayama Prefecture. The town centre sits between wooded hills and the harbour. Offshore, the Kasaoka Islands are scattered across the water, so the map has an unusual amount of coastline for a town of its size.
East of the centre lies a very large area of reclaimed land, created by closing off part of Kasaoka Bay. On a map it appears as a vast, flat patchwork of straight-edged fields and drainage channels, in complete contrast to the island-dotted sea beside it.
Kasaoka is known for its horseshoe crabs. Its tidal flats are a recognised breeding ground, and the town has a museum dedicated to these ancient animals. A Kasaoka map poster places the town between hills, islands and engineered farmland.

Reclaimed bay
Former sea, now farmland, divided into large rectangles by straight roads and channels, one of the most geometric areas on the map.
Harbour town
The older centre fits into a narrow strip between wooded hills and the port, with streets that follow the shoreline.

The map is for people from Kasaoka, travellers who took the ferries out to the islands, and anyone who enjoys the particular geography of the Seto Inland Sea. Land and water share the frame almost equally.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Blueprint or Classic black & white to show the island outlines sharply. Order a matte print with an optional wooden frame, or download the HD files.
