Irrigation channels
Canals and ditches run through the settlement in long parallel lines. They are the organising structure of the map, with fields and houses following their course.

Kokyar Map Poster & Print
Kokyar lies on the southern rim of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, where meltwater from the Kunlun Mountains reaches the desert edge. On the map, it looks like many oasis settlements: a green patch of fields, orchards and houses held together by irrigation channels, with dry land beyond. The lines of the canals give the whole place its structure.
Life along this southern rim depends on water coming down from the mountains, so settlements follow the channels closely. Roads are often lined with poplar trees and run alongside the ditches, and fields are divided into long, narrow strips. Where the water stops, the map goes almost blank, which gives the oasis a sharp, clear edge.
A Kokyar map poster brings out that contrast between cultivated and empty land. The pattern of channels and field boundaries is precise and repetitive, almost architectural, and the surrounding blank space makes it stand out. In black and white, it reads as a study in how water shapes a settlement, with no need to explain.

Strip fields
Farmland is split into narrow, regular plots. At poster scale this becomes a fine striped texture around the built-up core.
Oasis edge
Where irrigation ends, the map falls silent. That hard boundary between cultivated land and open ground is the most striking feature of the composition.

Oasis towns like Kokyar have an especially clear shape on a map, and that makes them strong subjects for a poster. For people from the area, it is a direct image of home. For others, it is a quiet, graphic look at life at the edge of the desert.
