Coastal strip layout
Land between the sea and the inland water is narrow, so the map is dominated by long lines running roughly parallel to the coast.

Kutiatodu Map Poster & Print
Kutiatodu lies in Kerala on the narrow coastal belt south of Kochi, where land, lagoon and sea sit very close together. In this part of the state, the ground between the Arabian Sea and the inland backwaters can be quite thin, and the map takes on a strongly linear character, with roads and settlements stretched along its length.
Settlement here is spread out rather than concentrated. Houses sit among coconut palms along lanes that run between the main highway and the water, and it can be hard to tell where one community ends and the next begins. Canals and backwater channels cut across the land, giving the map fine, meandering lines alongside the straighter roads.
The backwaters of central Kerala are among the most recognisable landscapes in India, a web of lagoons, rivers and channels connected to the sea. A Kutiatodu map poster shows a small section of that system in detail: the long coastal road, the scattered lanes and the water that shapes the land on both sides.

Backwater channels
Canals and backwater inlets wind through the area, adding irregular, organic shapes that contrast with the straighter road network.
Dispersed settlement
Homes spread along lanes rather than forming a dense centre, typical of coastal Kerala, where villages blend into one another.

For people from this stretch of the Kerala coast, a map is a way to hold on to the particular arrangement of road, water and home. It is also a thoughtful gift for relatives living abroad.
Choose a title in Malayalam or English, add a subtitle and a date, and adjust the coordinates line. Blueprint suits the waterways well, and Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Sand are also available.
