Valley-floor layout
The town stretches along the bottom of its mountain valley. On the poster this produces an elongated shape, with streets pressed together where the flat land is widest.

La Grita Map Poster & Print
La Grita lies high in the Venezuelan Andes, in the state of Táchira, in a valley enclosed by mountains. The town's shape on a map follows that setting closely. A long, fairly narrow band of streets fills the valley floor, with the grid bending where the land allows and thinning out where the slopes begin. The roads leaving town wind upward in tight curves.
Founded in the sixteenth century, La Grita is one of the older towns of the Venezuelan Andes. It is best known for the Santo Cristo de La Grita, a venerated image of Christ that draws pilgrims every year for its August festival. A La Grita map poster shows the colonial heart of the town and the way it has grown along the valley.
In monochrome, the streams descending from the surrounding mountains trace fine lines across the page, and the contrast between the compact centre and the open slopes is striking. The map has a clear sense of enclosure. The town sits held within the landscape rather than spread across it, and that is what makes the image memorable.

Colonial centre
The oldest part of La Grita keeps a regular pattern of blocks around its main square, a legacy of Spanish colonial planning that stands out clearly against the irregular edges.
Mountain roads
Roads leaving La Grita climb in switchbacks toward neighbouring Andean towns. They add sharp zigzag lines to the edges of the map and show how steep the terrain is.
