La Mirada sits on the southeastern rim of Los Angeles County, close to the line with Orange County. From above it reads as a classic postwar suburb. The city grew out of ranch and orchard land in the decades after the Second World War and incorporated in 1960. Its best-known institutions stand out clearly in the linework.
