Lhasa Map Poster & Print
Lhasa sits at around 3,650 metres in the valley of the Kyi Chu, a tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo. From above, the city is long and narrow, running east to west along the river, with steep mountain slopes on both sides limiting how far the streets can spread north or south.
The Potala Palace stands on Marpo Ri, the Red Hill, just west of the old centre, and it remains the most recognisable point on the map. To the east lies the Jokhang Temple, surrounded by the Barkhor, the ring of streets that pilgrims walk clockwise. The wider Lingkhor circuit once enclosed the whole old city.
A Lhasa map poster traces these circuits and the river valley in fine black lines. The contrast between the tight, rounded lanes of the old quarter and the straighter modern streets around it is clear on paper, and the edges of the mountains give the composition a natural frame.

Kyi Chu valley
The river runs along the southern side of the city, and its braided channels and islands set the long east to west direction of Lhasa.
Red Hill
The Potala Palace occupies Marpo Ri, a hill that breaks the street pattern west of the old town and anchors the whole composition.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
For many people, Lhasa is a journey they planned for years, and a map is a quiet way to keep it. The narrow valley and the loops of the old city make a poster that is easy to read from across a room.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps the date of the trip or the elevation. Pick one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and order it as a digital file or a printed poster.
