Loralai is the headquarters of Loralai District in north-eastern Balochistan, Pakistan. It stands at considerable altitude in a broad valley, surrounded by mountains that are dry and largely treeless. On a map the town appears as a defined cluster of streets on the valley floor, with ridgelines closing the view in several directions.
Its layout reflects two histories. The older bazaar area has a dense, irregular pattern. The cantonment, established under British rule and still an important military station, is laid out with wider roads and more open spacing.
