Maga Map Poster & Print
Maga lies in Cameroon's Far North region, on the wide, flat floodplain of the Logone river near the border with Chad. Seasonal floods shape the landscape. The most striking feature on a map of the area is the Maga reservoir, a large lake created by a dam and embankments that hold back the floods and irrigate the surrounding land.
The dam was built to support a major rice-growing scheme. The fields around the town are laid out in regular irrigation blocks, crossed by canals and dikes. On a map these appear as long straight lines and neat rectangles, an unusually geometric pattern for the region. Waza National Park lies not far to the west.
A Maga map poster is an image of people working with water in a dry country. The town forms a compact cluster at the edge of the lake, the reservoir fills a broad part of the frame, and the irrigation grid adds fine structure. It is a composition that rewards close looking.

Irrigation grid
Rice fields are divided into regular blocks by canals and dikes, forming a pattern of straight lines and rectangles that reads clearly in any style.
Logone floodplain
Beyond the scheme, the flat floodplain extends toward the Logone and the border with Chad, with seasonal channels leaving faint lines across the land.
