Ridge-top streets
Houses and roads follow the higher, gentler ground. On the poster the built-up area takes the outline of the hills themselves.

Māḩiş Map Poster & Print
Māḩiş is a town in Balqa governorate in Jordan, in the hilly country between Amman and the Jordan Valley. From above, the terrain shapes everything. Roads wind along ridges and around slopes, and houses group on the more level ground, leaving valleys and steep hillsides largely unbuilt.
The result is a street map that looks very different from the grids of the plains. Main roads trace long curves between neighbouring towns, and smaller streets branch off at irregular angles, often ending where the ground drops away. Terraces and olive groves cover some of the surrounding slopes.
A Māḩiş map poster brings out that contour-driven pattern. The town sits along its ridges, the connecting roads snake across the sheet, and open land fills the valleys between them. It is a thoughtful, understated image for people with family ties to the town or to the Balqa hills more broadly.

Winding approach roads
The roads to neighbouring towns curve around valleys and slopes. Their long, looping lines are the most dynamic element of the composition.
Open valleys
Steep valleys remain largely empty of streets. In black and white they create quiet, blank areas that make the terrain legible without contour lines.

For families from Māḩiş, many of whom now live elsewhere in Jordan or abroad, a map of the hill streets is a direct link to home. The winding roads also make it an attractive print in its own right.
