Losari waterfront
The seafront promenade is a firm, straight line against the strait. It is where the city meets the water most directly, and the most recognisable edge on the map.

Makassar Map Poster & Print
Makassar lies on the southwestern arm of Sulawesi, facing west across the Makassar Strait. The coastline is the defining line of the map. It runs past the port, the old fort and the open promenade of Losari Beach, and then south towards the mouth of the Jeneberang River. Small islands sit offshore, forming scattered shapes in the water.
The city has been a maritime trading centre for centuries. The seventeenth-century Fort Rotterdam survives near the waterfront as a compact geometric outline. In the north, the traditional harbour of Paotere still shelters wooden pinisi sailing boats, the vessels long associated with the Bugis and Makassar seafaring peoples of this region.
A Makassar map poster sets this sea-facing city against a wide field of blank water. Inland, the street network grows denser and less regular. There are canals, main roads leading east, and newer districts spreading over reclaimed land along the shore. The result is a composition shaped by the coast rather than by any central square.

Fort Rotterdam
The old Dutch fort keeps its angular bastioned outline close to the shore. It is a small but distinctive geometric shape among the surrounding city blocks.
Jeneberang River
South of the centre, the river bends towards the sea. It gives the lower part of the poster a flowing curve and a second meeting point of land and water.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
Makassar is often the city people return to, from study, family or work in eastern Indonesia. A map of its coast and harbour keeps that connection visible on a wall, far from the strait itself.
