Old town core
The historic centre is a dense tangle of narrow lanes. On the map it makes a dark, textured patch that stands out from the more regular streets around it.

Mangalvedha Map Poster & Print
Mangalvedha is a town in the Solapur district of southern Maharashtra, on the dry, open plain of the Deccan plateau. From above, the old centre is a compact, irregular knot of lanes, clearly older than the straighter roads and newer housing around it. Beyond them the map opens onto wide farmland divided by field boundaries and crossed by country roads.
The town holds a long place in the Marathi devotional tradition. It is associated with the poet-saints Chokhamela and Kanhopatra and with Damaji Pant, and it lies not far from Pandharpur, the main pilgrimage centre of the Varkari movement. The remains of an old fort also survive in the town, a sign of its earlier importance.
A Mangalvedha map poster brings together the old and the open. The tight weave of lanes at the centre contrasts with the spacious, geometric farmland of the plateau. It is a meaningful piece for families from the town and for anyone who knows the pilgrimage roads of this part of Maharashtra.

Fort remains
Traces of an old fort survive within the town. They add a reminder of Mangalvedha's past to the modern street layout around them.
Plateau farmland
Around the town the Deccan plain is divided into fields and crossed by straight rural roads. They give the outer map a calm, open geometry.
