Marayur Map Poster & Print
Marayur lies in the Idukki district of Kerala, on the eastern side of the Western Ghats, beyond Munnar on the road toward Tamil Nadu. It sits in a rain shadow and is noticeably drier than the green hills to the west, which shapes the land around it. The town itself is modest: a cluster of streets along the main road, with lanes spreading into fields and forest.
Marayur is known for its natural sandalwood forest, one of the few in Kerala. It is also known for jaggery made from locally grown sugarcane, which carries a geographical indication. The hills around it hold ancient dolmens, stone burial structures that have drawn archaeologists' interest. The Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary lies to the north-east, toward the state border.
A Marayur map poster reflects this mix of farmland and forest. The main road runs through as a firm line, while field boundaries, streams and forest tracks create a more open, varied texture around it. It suits anyone who has driven over the hills from Munnar and remembers the moment the landscape changed.

Sugarcane valley
Farmland spreads across the flatter ground around the town, where the sugarcane for Marayur's jaggery is grown, forming a patchwork of field outlines.
Sandalwood forest
Protected forest surrounds the town and shows on the map as broad open areas crossed by only a few tracks and streams.
