Mediouna lies a short distance south-east of Casablanca, in the Casablanca-Settat region, and gives its name to the surrounding province. On a map it shows up as a compact settlement where several routes meet. Flat farmland divided into regular parcels stretches away on every side. Mediouna belongs to the Chaouia, the broad coastal plain that has long supplied grain and produce to Casablanca. As Morocco's largest city has grown outward, new housing and roads have edged closer.
