Two street patterns
Older, winding village lanes sit beside newer blocks laid out on straighter lines, and the contrast is visible even at small scale.

Melmadai Map Poster & Print
Melmadai lies on the eastern side of Madurai in Tamil Nadu, in an area that has changed quickly as the city has expanded outward. From above it combines two patterns: irregular lanes from its earlier village form and newer, more regular residential layouts added as housing spread across former farmland.
Like much of the Madurai area, the surroundings include irrigation tanks and open ground, which show up on the map as broad blank shapes among the streets. Main roads leading out of the city give the district its structure, with smaller streets filling the spaces between them.
A Melmadai map poster suits people who know this part of Madurai as home rather than as a destination. It records a neighbourhood in transition, where the edges of the city are still being drawn, and in black and white the mix of old and new layouts becomes easy to read.

Tanks and open land
Irrigation tanks and fields leave large open spaces in the map, a typical feature of the land around Madurai.
Arterial roads
Roads running out of central Madurai pass through the area, giving it a clear framework that the smaller streets hang from.
