Merzig Map Poster & Print
Merzig is on the Saar in the north-west of Saarland, not far from the borders with Luxembourg and France. The river flows through a broad valley here, and the town is built along its banks. The centre lies on the east bank, and wooded hills rise on both sides, giving the map a clear frame.
The Romanesque church of St. Peter is one of the oldest buildings in the historic centre. Merzig is also known for Viez, the regional apple cider, which has its own festival in town, and for a wolf park on the edge of the forest. Downstream, near Mettlach, the Saar forms its famous loop.
A Merzig map poster brings out the relationship between the river and the town. The Saar runs through the frame in a strong curve, with the bridges and the railway following it. The streets in the centre are dense and irregular, and they spread out onto the slopes. Forest fills the higher ground, giving the design a calm, balanced border.

Historic centre
Dense streets around the church of St. Peter form the old core of Merzig, one of the most detailed parts of the map.
Wooded hills
Forested slopes rise on both sides of the valley and give the map dark, calm edges that frame the town and the river.
