Historic core
Short, winding lanes form an irregular knot at the centre of town. This street pattern has built up over a very long history of settlement on the site of ancient Mylasa.

Milas Map Poster & Print
Milas lies inland in Muğla province, in southwestern Turkey, on a plain surrounded by low hills covered with olive groves. The town stands on the site of ancient Mylasa, an important city of Caria. It served as the early seat of the Hecatomnid dynasty until Mausolus moved his capital to Halicarnassus, the present-day Bodrum, on the coast.
The map shows two sides of the town. The historic centre is a tangle of narrow, irregular lanes that has grown over many centuries, while the newer districts spread out in broader and more regular streets. Roads leave Milas toward the coast and the airport that serves Bodrum, and outside the town the land breaks into a patchwork of orchards and fields.
A Milas map poster shows a place that is usually driven past on the way to the sea. Seen from above, its old street pattern is dense and detailed, which suits a monochrome print. Ancient monuments survive among the modern buildings, including the Roman tomb called Gümüşkesen and an old city gate. They are a reminder of how long people have lived on this site.

Olive-grove plain
Around the town, the ground is divided into orchards and small fields. The pattern is soft and textured, and it contrasts with the denser streets at the centre.
Roads to the coast
The main routes run out toward the Aegean shore and the regional airport. They link this inland Carian town with the resort coast to the south and west.

Milas suits people who know southwestern Turkey beyond its beaches. It fits family roots in Muğla, or a traveller who is interested in ancient Caria. The old street pattern is intricate enough to reward a close look on a wall, while from a distance the print stays calm.
You can give the poster your own title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps in Turkish or with a date. It comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. You can download a free watermarked preview first, then choose HD files or a framed print.
