Morton sits in Tazewell County, a short drive east of Peoria across the Illinois River valley. The town is known for its pumpkins. A large canning plant here processes a great share of the canned pumpkin sold in the United States, and Morton has long called itself the Pumpkin Capital of the World, with an annual autumn festival to match.
