Mugala Map Poster & Print
Mugala lies in the southern part of Xinjiang, China, in the belt of oases that runs between the Kunlun Mountains and the Taklamakan Desert. Here, water from the mountains feeds rivers that fade into the sand further north, and settlements grow where that water can be used for irrigation. On a map, the town appears as a network of lanes and fields surrounded by open desert.
The oasis landscape has a characteristic look. Poplar-lined roads, irrigation channels and small fields form a fine, regular pattern within the cultivated area, and its edge against the desert is sharp. Outside it, the map is almost empty, which gives the settlement a clear and self-contained shape.
A Mugala map poster shows a place defined by water in a dry land. The composition is striking because of its contrast, with dense lines inside the oasis and wide empty space outside. It suits someone with a personal connection to the region or anyone interested in how people live at the edge of the desert.

Irrigation pattern
Inside the oasis, channels, tree-lined roads and small fields form a fine, orderly grid that fills the cultivated area with texture.
Open desert
Around the settlement, the land is largely empty, and that negative space makes the green heart of the oasis stand out even more.
