Nāspur lies in Mancherial district in the north of Telangana, adjoining the town of Mancherial. On a map the two form an almost continuous built-up area, with residential neighbourhoods spreading across gently undulating land. The Godavari River flows to the south of this area, a wide, braided channel that is one of the dominant features of the region.
This part of Telangana is a coal belt, and mining by the Singareni Collieries Company has shaped the local economy and landscape.
