Neunkirchen Map Poster & Print
Neunkirchen is the second-largest town in Saarland, and it grew up around one of the region's major ironworks. The town lies in the valley of the Blies, and much of its street network climbs the surrounding slopes in curves and switchbacks rather than in a grid. Housing estates, older workers' quarters and patches of woodland alternate across the hills.
The ironworks closed in the 1980s, and parts of the site have since been reused, with remaining blast-furnace structures kept as an industrial monument. The town is also home to a zoo on its green outskirts. On the map, the former works area stands out as a large, open zone of broad plots in the middle of the finer residential grain.
A Neunkirchen map poster traces how heavy industry and topography together shaped a town. Rail lines follow the valley floor, streets rise into the hills in loops, and the green edges come right up to the built-up area. In monochrome the result is detailed but never crowded, with a clear core and well-defined residential slopes around it.

Hillside streets
Residential roads curve up and around the slopes of the Blies valley, creating loops and bends that give the map a lively texture.
Rail in the valley
Railway lines run along the lower ground and join near the centre, a reminder of the transport network the ironworks depended on.

For anyone who grew up in Saarland's industrial towns, this map is a portrait of a familiar landscape: a valley, a works site and houses climbing the slopes. It suits a hallway or study just as well as a living room.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a street name or family date, and choose one of five styles. HD downloads cost $9 and include six print sizes, and printed posters on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame, are available too.
