The needle's eye
A low isthmus pinches the island near its northern end. The village sits there, with water close on both sides, and the coastline almost touches itself.

Nólsoy Map Poster & Print
Nólsoy stretches north to south across the approach to Tórshavn and acts as a natural breakwater for the capital. Its single village sits at the northern end, where the island narrows to a low neck of land between two bays. From there, the rest of the island rises into a long grassy ridge with steep edges, crossed only by walking routes down to the southern tip.
The island's name is usually explained as a reference to that narrow neck, likened to the eye of a needle. Nólsoy is known for a large colony of storm petrels that nest in its stone walls and slopes. A lighthouse stands at its southern end. A short ferry crossing links the village to Tórshavn several times a day.
A Nólsoy map poster is mostly coastline and contour. The village is a small cluster of lanes by the harbour, and everything south of it is open upland. It makes an unusual portrait of the Faroes: a quiet island that sits close enough to the capital to see its lights, yet looks very different on the map.

Southern lighthouse
At the far southern tip, a lighthouse marks the end of the long walk down the ridge. It is a single point where the island meets the open Atlantic.
Harbour facing Tórshavn
The village harbour opens west toward the capital across a short stretch of sound. The ferry route there ties the island to the rest of Streymoy.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
People who have stayed in Tórshavn often remember Nólsoy as the long shape on the horizon. For those who crossed over and walked it, the outline recalls a whole day on foot. In Paper or Sand it takes on the calm of a sketch in a field notebook.
Change the title to something personal, add a date in the subtitle and choose any of the five styles. A free watermarked preview lets you check the layout first, and the full download gives you 300 DPI files ready for printing at up to 24×36″.
