Mile-road grid
Evenly spaced mile roads divide the city into large squares, giving the map a strong, almost architectural frame that is typical of metro Detroit.

Novi Map Poster & Print
Novi lies in Oakland County, northwest of Detroit, and its map follows the logic of the region: a grid of mile roads set roughly one mile apart. Ten Mile, Eleven Mile and Twelve Mile Roads cross Novi Road and its neighbours to form large square blocks. Grand River Avenue cuts diagonally through the pattern, following an old route toward Lansing.
Inside each square, the story changes. Subdivisions fill the spaces with looping streets and cul-de-sacs, and small lakes and wetlands leave blank patches in between. Walled Lake takes up a wide oval in the north of the city. Near the southern edge, I-96 and I-696 meet in a large interchange, and the Twelve Oaks Mall sits beside the freeway as a broad retail landmark.
The name has a well-known local legend. It is said to come from a stagecoach or railway stop numbered six, No. VI, though historians treat the story as unproven. A Novi map poster sets the rigid mile grid against the soft curves of the neighbourhoods and lakes. The result is a surprisingly graphic image of an ordinary suburban plan.

Walled Lake
The lake forms a broad open shape in the north, its shoreline ringed by residential streets that bend around the water.
Freeway junction
I-96 and I-696 converge in the south, and the ramps and flyovers of the interchange read as a dense cluster of sweeping curves.

For people who grew up in Novi or bought their first home in one of its subdivisions, the map is familiar and oddly beautiful. It turns the daily geography of school runs, mile-road commutes and lake summers into a clean, graphic print.
