Coastal road
The main road along Java's northern coast gives the map its strongest horizontal line. Settlements gather along it in an almost continuous band.

Panji Map Poster & Print
Panji lies in Situbondo Regency on the northern coast of East Java, not far from the town of Situbondo. On the map, it is part of a narrow lowland strip between the sea to the north and higher ground to the south. The main coastal road that runs along this side of Java shapes the direction of the settlement.
From above, the pattern alternates between village clusters, rice fields and residential streets. Everything is organised around a few key roads, and irrigation channels and small watercourses flow from the uplands towards the coast, dividing the land into irregular parcels. This mix of built and agricultural land is typical of East Java's coastal districts.
A Panji map poster is a restrained portrait of a place that is seldom mapped for its own sake. In monochrome, the lines of road and water become the main subject. It is a quiet keepsake for people from Situbondo and the surrounding villages.

Fields and villages
Between the roads, small village clusters sit among agricultural plots. This creates a patchwork texture that contrasts clearly with the denser built-up areas.
Towards the strait
To the north the land meets the Madura Strait. The shoreline forms a natural edge and opens the composition towards the sea.
