Pārvatipuram lies in the far north of Andhra Pradesh, close to the border with Odisha. In 2022 it became the headquarters of the new Parvathipuram Manyam district. Its map shows a compact market town: a dense centre of short, irregular streets, a railway line passing through, and main roads leaving toward neighbouring towns.
The land around the town is mostly flat and farmed, but to the west the Eastern Ghats rise in forested hills. The word manyam refers to this hill country, which is home to many Adivasi communities. The Nagavali river runs through the district, and tanks and irrigation channels are scattered across the plain.
