Pilgrimage centre
The sanctuary of Padre Jesús stands within the town's grid. Many pilgrims travel to it, making this block the symbolic centre of the map even though it is not the geometric one.

Petatlán Map Poster & Print
Petatlán sits on the Costa Grande of Guerrero, a few kilometres back from the Pacific shore, southeast of Zihuatanejo. From above, the town is a compact grid of streets on a coastal plain. The land between the town and the sea is flat and open, with lagoons and beach just beyond. Behind the town, the Sierra Madre del Sur starts to rise.
The town is best known across Mexico as a pilgrimage centre. The sanctuary of Padre Jesús de Petatlán draws visitors from across Guerrero and beyond, especially during its annual festivities. On a map the church sits within the regular blocks of the centre. The coastal highway runs past the town and links it to the rest of the Costa Grande.
A Petatlán map poster shows a town defined by what surrounds it. On one side are water and sand, on the other rising ground, with a dense grid in between. In black and white, the curved coastline and lagoons contrast with the straight streets of the town. It is a small place with a clear shape and a strong identity.

Coastal plain
Flat land separates the town from the Pacific. The open space gives the composition room to breathe, and the shoreline and lagoons form a long, soft edge.
Costa Grande highway
The main coastal road runs past Petatlán and ties it to Zihuatanejo and the other towns along this part of Guerrero's shore.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
Petatlán means something particular to people who have made the pilgrimage or who grew up on the Costa Grande. A map of its streets and coastline keeps that connection on the wall and does it more quietly than a photograph would.
