Poldokhtar Map Poster & Print
Poldokhtar is a town in Lorestan Province in western Iran, set in a valley of the Zagros Mountains beside the Kashkan River. On the map, the town stretches along the river, with streets packed into the available flat land, and steep, bare slopes rising close by. The river's bends give the settlement its outline.
The name means Maiden's Bridge and refers to the ruins of a historic bridge over the Kashkan, generally dated to the Sasanian period. The broken arches are among the best-known sights of the region. The town's position on a river crossing reflects that long history of routes passing through the mountains.
A Poldokhtar map poster shows the river curving through the frame, the town's streets clustered along its banks and the rough terrain on either side. The contrast between the dense urban grid and the open mountain ground gives the drawing a strong shape, true to a town set in a narrow mountain valley.

Kashkan River
The river runs through the valley in broad bends, shaping the town's layout and forming the strongest line in the whole composition.
Mountain setting
Steep slopes rise close to the town, limiting the flat ground and leaving the built-up area as a narrow strip beside the water.
