Puerto Princesa is the main city of Palawan, the long island that stretches southwest from the rest of the Philippines toward Borneo. The urban centre is compact and set along Puerto Princesa Bay on the eastern coast, with the airport runway close to the downtown streets. The city's boundaries, though, reach across the full width of the island, which makes it one of the largest cities in the country by land area.

Honda Bay islands
Small islands and reefs are scattered across Honda Bay, north of the centre. On a wider view they appear as small separate outlines, and they are a common day trip from town.
