Ra-ngae is a district in Narathiwat province, in the far south of Thailand close to the Malaysian border. Its main town lies inland from the coast, in a landscape of rubber plantations, orchards, rice fields and scattered villages. The population of the area is largely Malay Muslim, and mosques, markets and village communities shape the character of the district.
