Rioblanco lies in the far south of Tolima, on the eastern flank of Colombia's Central Cordillera. The municipality is mostly mountain country. The town is a compact settlement in a valley, and roads leave it in switchbacks as they climb towards farms and hamlets higher up.
From above, the town's regular blocks look small against everything around them. Streams cut down through the terrain, and the rural roads follow the contours rather than straight lines. That contrast between a tidy centre and the loose, winding network outside it gives the map its character.
