Roxbury Crossing sits where Roxbury, Mission Hill and the Longwood area meet in Boston. On a map it is a knot of converging routes. Tremont Street and Columbus Avenue cross here, and the Orange Line runs below the long green strip of the Southwest Corridor Park. Around it, the streets change direction abruptly as older neighbourhood grids collide.
The Southwest Corridor Park is the defining feature. The land was once cleared for a highway that was never built, and residents campaigned to turn it into a rail line with a park running along the top. Nearby campuses, including Roxbury Community College, add larger block shapes. The streets of Mission Hill rise to the west.

Converging avenues
Tremont Street and Columbus Avenue cross near the station. Their angled paths break the smaller grids and give the map its crossroads shape.

West of the crossing, the streets curve and tighten as they climb Mission Hill. Their curves contrast with the flatter blocks below.
