San José Iturbide Map Poster & Print
San José Iturbide is in the east of Guanajuato, near the border with Querétaro, on the high, dry plateau of central Mexico. It takes its name from Agustín de Iturbide, the leader of the final phase of Mexican independence. The town sits close to Federal Highway 57, the main route between Mexico City and the north.
The historic centre follows the colonial pattern, with a regular grid of blocks around the main plaza and parish church. Outside it, newer neighbourhoods extend the grid, and large industrial parks along the highway have added big rectangular plots at the edge of the town. On a map this mixes old fine-grained blocks with wide modern shapes.
A San José Iturbide map poster shows a Bajío town caught between its colonial past and its new role in manufacturing. It suits people from the town, engineers and managers who moved here to work, and families with roots in Guanajuato living in the United States.
