Contour-following streets
Roads bend with the hillsides instead of running straight, so the map traces the landscape indirectly through the shape of the street network.

São Domingos do Prata Map Poster & Print
São Domingos do Prata is a municipality in eastern Minas Gerais, in the hilly country that characterises much of the state. From above, the town does not spread out on a flat grid. Instead, its streets follow the contours of the land, climbing ridges and running along the valley floors where building is easiest.
The centre forms a compact cluster, with the main church and square typical of towns in Minas at its heart. From there, roads leave in several directions, winding through the surrounding hills toward farms and neighbouring towns. Small streams in the valleys add thin, irregular lines that follow the lowest ground.
A São Domingos do Prata map poster shows how closely this kind of town is tied to its terrain. Even without contour lines, the curves of the roads make the shape of the hills visible. It is a quiet, organic composition, very different from the rigid grids of planned cities.

Compact historic centre
The old heart of town forms a denser knot of streets, the natural focal point of the poster and the place from which the routes radiate.
Valley streams
Small watercourses run through the valleys between hills, adding soft lines that echo the direction of the nearby roads.
