Sarayköy lies west of Denizli in the wide valley of the Büyük Menderes river, known in ancient times as the Maeander. On a map, the town is a compact cluster of streets on the valley floor. A main road and the railway run along the valley and connect it to Denizli and the Aegean coast.
The flat land around the town is intensively farmed, so field roads and irrigation channels form straight lines on the plain. The river meanders across the valley, living up to the name that gave the English word for a winding course. On either side of the valley, mountain slopes rise and mark the edges of the plain.
The area is known in Turkey for its geothermal resources, and there are power plants in the valley that use the hot ground below.
