The Ruhr valley
The Ruhr river bends along the southern side of town, and its broad valley floor and meanders give the lower part of the poster a soft, flowing edge against the street grid.

Schwerte Map Poster & Print
Schwerte sits on the southern edge of the Ruhr region, where the dense street network of Dortmund thins out and the valley of the Ruhr river takes over. On a map the town's centre looks tight and irregular, a small knot of older streets that stands out against the looser suburban blocks and green spaces around it. The river curves along the southern side and gives the whole composition its lower line.
The historic core grew around the church of St. Viktor, and Schwerte was once counted among the towns of the Hanseatic League. That older layer is still visible from above in the short, bending lanes near the centre. Around it, later housing spreads outward in quieter patterns, cut through by main roads leading north toward Dortmund and across the valley to the south. A Schwerte map poster captures that layering in plain black lines.
Rail is the other thread that shapes the town. Schwerte grew into a notable railway junction, and several lines meet and separate here, leaving long, gentle curves across the map that no street would draw. Between the tracks, the river and the wooded slopes of the valley, the town reads as a settlement pressed into a crossing point, which gives the finished print a clear sense of direction.

Old town core
Around the church of St. Viktor the streets become short and irregular, a dense cluster that marks the medieval centre and contrasts with the more open neighbourhoods further out.
Railway junction
Several rail lines converge near the centre and then fan out in wide arcs, adding long, smooth curves that cut across the smaller residential blocks on the map.

For people who grew up in Schwerte, commute through it, or once lived near the Ruhr, this map holds a precise sense of place: the river bend, the old centre and the lines leading out toward the wider region. It works well in a hallway or a study where a quieter image belongs.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name, a moving date or a favourite street. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and order the digital HD files for $9 or a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
