Shijōnawate Map Poster & Print
Shijōnawate lies on the eastern edge of the Osaka plain, where the flat land meets the Ikoma mountain range. On the map this is the city's defining feature: in the west, dense residential streets and a railway line; in the east, wooded hills with only a few winding roads and paths.
The name is linked to the Battle of Shijōnawate in 1348, in which the warrior Kusunoki Masatsura died. Shijōnawate Shrine, dedicated to him, stands close to the foot of the hills. The shrine and the old field of battle give the modern suburb a clear historical point of reference.
A Shijōnawate map poster captures the contrast between the tightly packed streets of a Japanese suburb and the soft, open shapes of forested slopes. The JR line runs through the lower town, and small streams come down from the hills. The result is a map with a clear boundary between town and hills.

Shijōnawate Shrine
This shrine to Kusunoki Masatsura stands near the base of the hills. It marks the city's connection with the battle of 1348.
Plain streets
To the west, small, closely packed streets and the railway fill the flat land. They create the dense texture typical of suburban Osaka.
