Oasis edge
The line where irrigated land stops and desert begins is unusually sharp here, framing the town and its fields with a wide band of empty ground.

Siyeke Map Poster & Print
Siyeke lies in southern Xinjiang, on the band of irrigated land between the Kunlun Mountains and the Taklamakan Desert. From above, settlements here look like islands: a patch of fields, canals and lanes cut sharply out of the surrounding sand and gravel. The town is part of that pattern, a cluster of streets that quickly gives way to cultivated plots and then to open ground.
Water shapes everything on this map. Irrigation channels, fed by rivers coming down from the mountains to the south, run in long straight lines and divide the farmland into strips and rectangles. Roads follow the same geometry, so the drawing has an almost surveyed look. The edge of the desert acts as a hard border rather than a gradual fade.
A Siyeke map poster works best for people who have lived or travelled among the oases of the southern Silk Road and remember how abruptly green turns to sand. In monochrome the contrast is even clearer, and the empty space around the town becomes as much a part of the picture as the streets themselves.

Irrigation geometry
Canals and field boundaries run in long parallel lines, giving the countryside around Siyeke a grid-like texture that reads clearly in black and white.
Mountain-fed water
Rivers flowing north from the Kunlun range supply the oasis, and their channels and branches thread through the farmland toward the desert.

For someone from Xinjiang, or a traveller who crossed the Tarim Basin, this map holds a sense of distance and scale. Add a personal title, a subtitle with a date and the coordinates line to mark the moment the place mattered.
Blueprint and Sand suit the survey-like field pattern especially well, though Classic black & white, Noir and Paper are available too. A free 900 px watermarked preview lets you check the framing before you buy the $9 HD files or a printed poster.
