Sulmona Map Poster & Print
Sulmona sits in the Valle Peligna, a high basin in Abruzzo enclosed by mountains, with the Majella and Morrone massifs close by. It is the birthplace of the Roman poet Ovid, whose statue stands in the town. It is also known across Italy for confetti, the sugared almonds made here for weddings and celebrations for centuries.
The historic centre is long and narrow, stretched along Corso Ovidio, the main street that runs the length of the old town. Side streets branch off it in a fine herringbone pattern. Partway along, the medieval aqueduct runs beside the broad market square of Piazza Garibaldi. Beyond the old walls, newer districts spread across the valley floor toward the mountains.
A Sulmona map poster shows how clearly a hill-country town can be read from above: one strong spine, a tight old core and the open basin beyond. Printed in black and white, the historic centre becomes a slender, detailed shape among quieter modern streets. It is a precise portrait of a town with deep roots in Italian literature.

Readers of Ovid, walkers heading into the Majella and anyone with family roots in Abruzzo will find something personal in this map. The shape of the old town is distinctive enough to recognise at a glance.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a wedding date in honour of the town's confetti, and add the coordinates. Choose Paper or Sand for warmth, or Noir for contrast. Download the files for $9, or order a matte print.
