Talgar River
The river flows out of the mountains and past the town. Its channel and wooded banks cut a clear diagonal through the street pattern on the map.

Talghar Map Poster & Print
Talghar lies east of Almaty, where the steep northern slopes of the Trans-Ili Alatau level out into the plain. From above, the town is a regular pattern of streets running roughly parallel to the Talgar River. The river comes down from the mountains to the south, and the ridges rise sharply beyond the last houses.
The town is named after the river and after Talgar Peak, the highest summit of the range. Nearby are the remains of a medieval settlement on the Silk Road, known as Talkhiz. It is included in the UNESCO-listed Silk Roads network of the Chang'an–Tianshan corridor. The surrounding land has long been known for orchards.
A Talghar map poster shows where two kinds of landscape meet. Orderly lowland streets on one side give way to the river valley and mountain foothills on the other. The river is the main line, running through the composition from the high ground to the plain, with the town arranged calmly along it.

Foothill edge
To the south, streets end where the terrain starts to climb. The shift from flat grid to open slope gives the print a strong natural border.
Silk Road site
On the outskirts lie the remains of the medieval town of Talkhiz, one of the Silk Road sites recognised by UNESCO. They tie today's streets to a far older route.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
Talghar connects city life in Almaty with the mountains just beyond it. For people who live here or have family here, the map holds both the familiar streets and the peaks that fill the southern skyline.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Each style gives the river and foothills a different mood.
