Ţāmiyah Map Poster & Print
Ţāmiyah lies in Egypt's Faiyum Governorate, in the north-eastern part of the depression, south-west of Cairo. From above, the contrast is immediate. On one side, a green patchwork of small fields is crossed by irrigation canals. On the other, the flat, pale desert that surrounds the Faiyum.
The town itself is a dense cluster of streets and houses, with roads linking it to Faiyum city and toward the Nile valley. A Ţāmiyah map poster shows how closely settlement follows water here. Buildings gather along canals and roads, and field boundaries form a fine, irregular mesh that stops abruptly where irrigation ends.
The Faiyum's water system, fed from the Nile, is one of the oldest in Egypt, and the map reflects it in branching canals that run across the farmland. In black and white, the poster reads as a meeting of textures. There is the tight grain of the town, the lined fields and the empty space of the desert beyond.

Desert edge
The cultivated land ends sharply at the desert, creating a strong boundary between detailed fields and open, empty ground.
Compact town core
The built-up area is dense and tightly packed, a dark knot of streets set among the lighter pattern of the fields.
