Taungup Map Poster & Print
Taungup lies near the coast of Rakhine State in western Myanmar, on low ground between the Bay of Bengal and the Arakan Mountains. Rivers and tidal creeks wind through the surrounding land. The town sits among them on firmer ground, with its streets forming a modest grid around the market and the main road.
The town is known as the western end of the Taungup Pass road, which crosses the Arakan Yoma to Pyay in the Ayeyarwady valley. It has long been one of the few land routes linking Rakhine to central Myanmar. On a map the road leaves town heading east and soon begins to bend and twist as it climbs into the hills.
Toward the sea the land breaks into a pattern of channels, mangrove-lined inlets and small islands, drawn as fine, branching lines on the paper. A Taungup map poster places the compact town between this watery lowland and the forested ranges inland, so the texture of the composition changes sharply from one edge to the other.

Taungup Pass road
The road east across the Arakan Mountains begins here. It twists into the hills as a single winding line, in contrast with the town's straight streets.
Market town grid
A small, regular street pattern surrounds the market and the main road. It is the dense core from which everything else on the map spreads out.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
For people from Rakhine, or travellers who crossed the pass toward the coast, Taungup is where the road meets the sea. Its map is a quiet way to remember a town that rarely appears in print, and its contrast of creeks and hills works well on a clean wall.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, then choose one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Sand. The $9 digital files come without a watermark in six sizes, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF.
