Irrigated field grid
Straight roads and channels divide the surrounding farmland into regular plots, creating a fine geometric pattern that surrounds the small built-up centre.

Tawakule Map Poster & Print
Tawakule lies in southern Xinjiang, on the edge of the Tarim Basin, where settlements depend on water flowing down from the Kunlun Mountains to the south. To the north stretches the Taklamakan Desert. From above, the town appears as a cluster of streets inside a patchwork of irrigated fields, tree-lined roads and canals.
On the map, the difference between cultivated land and desert is striking. Fields and roads form a dense, rectangular web close to the town, then give way abruptly to empty space. This is typical of the oasis belt along the Tarim's southern rim, where each community is a green island shaped by irrigation.
A Tawakule map poster reduces this landscape to lines: the town's streets, straight farm roads, irrigation channels and the clean outer edge where cultivation stops. It is a spare and graphic image, and it makes clear how much the place owes to careful use of water in a dry region.

Desert edge
Beyond the oasis, the map becomes almost empty, a sign of the Taklamakan to the north and a strong contrast on the printed sheet.
Compact town core
The main streets meet in a small, dense centre, with houses and yards spreading outward along the roads into the cultivated land.
