Mayombe terrain
Forested hills around the town force roads into long curves along ridges and valleys, giving the map an organic, winding texture.

Tshela Map Poster & Print
Tshela lies in the far west of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the province of Kongo Central, not far from the borders with Angola's Cabinda enclave. The land around the town is part of the Mayombe, a region of hills and dense forest, so the roads twist to follow the ridges and valleys.
The town was once the inland terminus of the Mayumbe railway, a narrow-gauge line that ran from the port of Boma. The railway no longer operates, but its route helped shape the town's location and layout. On the map, Tshela's streets form a modest cluster, surrounded by a looser network of tracks leading into the countryside.
Because the terrain is uneven, the lines on the map are rarely straight. A Tshela map poster reflects this. Curving roads, small stream valleys and a compact centre make for a softer composition than a lowland grid, showing a town shaped by its hills.

Former railhead
Tshela was the end of the old narrow-gauge line from Boma, and the town grew around that inland terminus in the colonial era.
Compact centre
The main streets gather into a small, dense core, with tracks spreading outward from it toward the villages of the surrounding district.
