Tsuha sits on the coast of northern Okinawa Island, in the region known as Yanbaru, where the landscape is very different from the crowded south. On the map the settlement is a modest cluster of streets pressed between the sea and rising ground. The coastal road runs through it, and the green interior comes right up behind the last houses.
That interior defines the area. Much of northern Okinawa is covered by subtropical forest, and in 2021 the northern part of the island was inscribed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site together with other islands of the Ryukyu chain. The terrain folds into small valleys, and streams run down from the hills toward the reef-fringed shore.
A Tsuha map poster is less about a street grid than about a boundary: the line where land meets sea, and the narrow band of settlement that has grown along it. In black and white the coastline becomes a single confident stroke, and the few streets read clearly against open space. It is a restrained piece for someone who knows this quiet part of Okinawa.

Shoreline edge
The coast gives the map its strongest line. A curve of shore and reef edge separates the small cluster of houses from open water.
Forested hills
Behind the village, the ground rises quickly into the Yanbaru forest. On the poster this reads as calm, empty space that frames the settlement and hints at the island's wild northern interior.
