Vadavalli lies on the western edge of Coimbatore, where the city meets the first ridges of the Western Ghats. From above it looks like a transitional zone. The best-known landmark nearby is Marudhamalai, a hill crowned by a temple dedicated to Murugan and reached by a long flight of steps and a winding road.
