Río Negro
The wide river runs along the town's northern edge. It is the most prominent element of the map, and bridges link Viedma to its neighbour.

Viedma Map Poster & Print
Viedma is the capital of Río Negro Province in northern Patagonia. It lies on the southern bank of the Río Negro, some thirty kilometres from the river's mouth on the Atlantic. On a map, the town is a regular grid aligned with the river. Carmen de Patagones, in Buenos Aires Province, sits directly opposite on the northern bank.
Both towns trace their origins to a Spanish settlement founded in 1779, one of the earliest in Patagonia. In the 1980s, President Raúl Alfonsín proposed moving Argentina's national capital to the Viedma area. The project was approved by law but never carried out. The riverside promenade and the view across the water remain the town's defining features.
A Viedma map poster shows two towns separated by a broad river, with Viedma's steady grid on the south bank and the older streets of Patagones opposite. It is a good choice for anyone who grew up here or who came to know Patagonia through this gateway.

The twin town faces Viedma across the river. Its streets are visible on the opposite bank, so the poster shows a pair of towns rather than one.
Regular riverside grid
Viedma's streets form a clear, orderly grid. It extends back from the waterfront promenade into newer neighbourhoods and the open Patagonian plain.

Viedma is where many families from across Patagonia have lived, studied or worked in provincial government. A map of its riverside grid makes a calm, recognisable reminder of that time.
