Wodonga lies in northeastern Victoria, just south of the Murray River, which forms the border with New South Wales. Its twin city, Albury, sits on the opposite bank, and together they form a single urban area split by a state line. Wodonga's centre is laid out along the main roads leading towards the river crossing, with residential suburbs spreading south and east into gently rolling country.
